The First “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” Trailer Is Here

Running at only a minute and 30 seconds long, the trailer manages to give us a good look at what to expect from the film. James Franco may not be involved in this sequel as he was in 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing—the film seems like it’ll heavily feature stars Andy Serkis and Jason Clarke, as the ape lead and human lead of the film (respectively).

As previously reported—the film is set to follow Caesar (Serkis) and the other evolved apes as they are discovered by a band of human survivors of a devastating virus that wiped out mankind a decade prior. Per the synopsis, both humans and apes are able to reach a “fragile peace” before conflict breaks out, and “both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.”

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will hit theaters on July 11, 2014. Check out the trailer above.
