We’ve examined some of British street artist Banksy’s work.. now we take a look at the American prodigal child. Hanksy, out of NYC, is a young street artist most often caught on camera with his hoody, black ray bans and some type of garb covering his entire face. Moving with this Anonymous energy has allowed for his art to do the talking, where he was first spotted out for his implementation of works with Tom Hanks face – who was one of his biggest inspirations as a kid and closet comic….
In the video and images, we get a second sneak peak at ‘surplus candy’ – the undercover art show held in NYC at 1am… only offered to fans and savvy social media followers who were able to follow the clues as to its location. 400 people attended in two hours. Forty-three artists (both renowned and unknown) spent the previous week prepping an coating the canvas. Best of all, Hanksy wants to work with any demographic of up and coming artists.
“There’s a huge country out there and there’s a lot of kids doing a lot of cool stuff outside of L.A. and New York,” he said. “So yes, I’m using whatever little notoriety and fame I have to put the spotlight” on those kids. “Blow it up!” – one of his biggest aspirations.
